If you ask my parents, I’ve been creating natural body products since I was five. They were constantly finding little baggies full of my “experiments” hidden around the house. I remember in particular a shampoo made of pine needles, sand from my sandbox, marigold petals and puddle water. It probably didn’t cleanse hair very well, but would have made a highly effective scrub! My love of nature and science was evident even back then.
I began making natural soap when my son was born. He had sensitive, dry skin that was irritated by every commercial baby wash and lotion I tried. After doing research about the chemicals in these products, I was shocked to learn that many of them were known skin irritants and some could even be contaminated with carcinogens. My inner scientist was reawakened and I began making gentle, all natural olive oil soaps for him. Before long, I was creating soaps for myself, my family and friends, too.
At Lavish Naturals, each product is carefully formulated and hand crafted with natural ingredients. If I wouldn’t use it on myself or my children, you won’t find it in our products.
Our philosophy on ingredients is simple: We use only quality vegetable oils and butters, essential oils, botanicals, clays and purified earth pigments. We don’t use petroleum-derived ingredients, sulfates, glycols, synthetic fragrances, synthetic colors or preservatives. All of our products are suitable for vegetarians and most are vegan, too. And of course we never test our products on animals- only on ourselves!
We are also committed to being friendly to the environment, too. To reduce waste, we wrap our soaps in a simple paper sleeve and we reuse shipping materials from our suppliers whenever possible.
Being a stay-at-home mom and now working mom, I know that we often have very little time that is truly for ourselves. That’s why I’ve created skin-nourishing products that help you to savor these moments- they not only smell and feel great, but they are beautiful, too. Take a few moments to breathe and relax and know that you’re doing something great for your skin and the environment.
